

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN required, BLS/ACLS certifications. Individualizes patient and family teaching needs relative to patient's ability to learn and level of comprehension. Requests medical, pre-surgical clearances, physicals, EKG, and other necessary reports from patient, primary care physician, or other related entity. Assesses the physical, psychosocial and teaching needs of patients to determine appropriate preoperative status and define interventions necessary prior to surgery. Works directly with physician to determine continued care of patient in the Recovery Area and to relay to the Recovery Area RN any further post-op instructions.

Speaks to infant/pediatric child patient in soothing tone. Obtains pertinent history from patient and/or significant other, or from other appropriate source, i.e. Recognizes emergent/unsafe situations & initiates appropriate intervention Recognizes signs of abuse and/or neglect of infant, child, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric patient and reports finding to MD and patient representative. Identifies patients' needs & problems & implements appropriate action. Communicates effectively with health teal)l members, patients and guests.Īssesses the physical, psychosocial and teaching needs of patients to determine appropriate nursing diagnosis, nursing interventions & expected outcome in the patient's plan of care in the Operating Room / Perioperative Services. Works cooperatively with health temn, ancillary personnel, and faculty and community physicians in the clinical setting. Makes identifying, meeting and serving patient needs a priority, Displays leadership by promoting the goals of the department.

Delivers and coordinates nursing care throughout the facility in an efficient and professional manner in accordance with established perioperative, ophthalmologic and departmental standards of care and standards of nursing practice.
